On October 30, the Bologna Exhibition Centre officially started the redevelopment and expansion, with an investment of 100 million euros and a final target of 140,000 square meters of exhibition area to be completed by 2022.

The project, curated by the studio Di Gregorio Associati, is based on a new vision of an exhibition space, in which the hallways  will be  lined with urban spaces with gardens and catering outlets, which will link the different functions attached to the exhibition events and its related services.

Natural lighting will play a key role, enhanced by large transparent and translucent surfaces that will highlight structural elements as well as their architectural experience. The key element will be the eco living system, for natural pleasure in moments of rest and recuperation in between business connections.

The first phase of the project involves demolition and total reconstruction of pavilions 29 and 30, which will be rebuilt in record time to be ready for fairs starting  in September 2018.
